These are some of Dr. Mindy’s Points

 

Jason gives a bunch of reasons why calorie restriction doesn’t work.

it kills metabolism, people lose weight, but then gain it back, maybe even more weight because their metabolism has been reduced

 

calorie restriction is a roller coaster of dieting

worry about one hormone and that’s insulin

when insulin is high, you are going to store fat

when its down for a long period of time, you are going to burn fat

its that simple

Jason fung takes us back through our history and shows us why we are the most obese country in the world

 

the premise has been that you have to have extreme discipline to lose weight

eat less move more doesn’t work

 

instead, remember this:

don’t eat less, eat less often

 

weight loss is not an issue of discipline, its an issue of hormonal control

 

look at alcoholism as a similar problem

you sometimes have to get to the underneath problem,

get to the why have you been eating the way that you’ve been eating

change your relationship to food

 

in 50s, heart disease was the big villain

we got it wrong, we thought it was fat

but now we know that sugar and carbohydrates have a bigger impact on heart disease
