today’s linked video from Fledge Fitness is entitled:

I love that Edward V calls us IF warriors.

Here are some notes from the video

  • both diets get us to reduce insulin to rock bottom
  • through fasting, its because you’ve depleted your glycogen stores
  • through keto, its because you just aren’t eating glucose
  • carbs are pretty much all glucose
  • through IF, you’re reducing insulin because you’re not eating fats, protein, or carbs, you reduce insulin to baseline
  • keto still raises your insulin slightly, not eating
  • when you IF with carbs, your insulin spikes pretty high and it takes a really long time to drop
  • plus you’re storing those carbs in your liver for the next 24 hours
  • connecting IF with keto does a tag team effort, you’re keeping insulin low through IF, then when you do eat, your insulin doesn’t raise near as much and
  • IF can also complement keto diet by helping you get into the ketosis state quicker
  • Edward says that eating a higher carb diet can help getting magnesium, calcium, and potassium
  • And of course eating a higher carb diet gives you more variety and its just easier to stick to
  • In both cases, you can adjust the fasting time that you’re doing to give better results
  • Some people do keto with IF for 6 weeks to drop 10 pounds, then go back to the
  • try different things, find what works for you
  • whatever works for you will be the best diet for YOU
