here are my notes:

  • you can’t do great things if you don’t feel good
  • you have to have the energy and the focus
  • Ben does 3 hours of research every day
  • and has 3 books 1 each on fasting, sleep and general health
  • everything in his health and life changed when he said to himself: I am responsible
  • ben’s on a mission to help 1 billion people
  • lets live to 120 years without disease
  • Ben likes the Costanza effect where you do the opposite
  • 3% of the people actually think
  • 2% think they think
  • 95% would rather die than think
  • Hack #1: produce BDNF through sprint/rest cycles, blueberries, green tea, and practicing intermittent fasting
  • Hack #2: the power of sleep. sleep is more important than diet and exercise combined
    • The biggest influence on your telomeres is sleep
    • get better sleep
    • between 10pm and 2am is the most productive sleep time
    • avoid night time blue light
    • banana tea which is natures Nyquil
  • Hack #3: create a powerful morning ritual
    • drink 16 ounces o fwater with sea salt
    • get 15 minutes of sun
    • wait 90 minutes to have your coffee
    • if you own the morning you own the day
  • Hack #4 – the keto diet, which he loves, but not long term
    • replace carbs with fats and stop snacking
    • if you skip a meal and you feel hangry, you are a sugar burner and you can’t switch to burning fat
    • you get healthy, and you lose weight
    • your cells love fat
    • eat 7-10 cups of vegetables a day
    • eat bitter rich foods for healthy bile
    • eat2/2/2 – 2 teaspoods of Mct oil, butter, olive oil
    • do not stay in ketosis too long
  • Hack #5 – intermittent fasting
  • do keto steps before you fast
  • 382 days is the record for fasting
  • we store body fat so when we’re not eating we burn that body fat
  • if you want to age really fast, eat every 2-3 hours
  • when you’re fat adapted, you can go 3-4 days without eating no problem
  • here’s the food analogy
  • we have a fridge full of food with expiration dates
  • if we buy new groceries, we put that in the fridge, the old stuff is still there
  • fasting is the way to take the junk
  • Seyfried says if you fast once a year for a week, you drop your cancer likelihood by 95%
